WATCH: Child Outdooring & The Moon Amongst the Ga Dangme (2017) – Rabbi Akwetey Amaah

Shalom, everyone! The following is a video commentary by renown educator Rabbi Akwetey Amaah of the Kingdom of Kings Academy called “Child Outdooring & The Moon Amongst the Ga Dangme” In this video clip, Rabbi Akwetey discusses the custom of child outdooring and the significance of the moon among the Ga-Dangmes. Child outdooring is the custom of showing a newborn baby to the moon. The Ga-Dangmes show newborn babies to the moon on their eighth day of life as a show of gratitude to The Creator for the blessing of a new child in the family. As it was with the ancient Erverhs, the moon is an important part of Ga-Dangme culture.
